Competition Rules
Here is everything you need to know to enter the competition.
Please read the rules carefully. Entry to the competition implies that the rules have been read, understood and accepted.
The competition is open to poets from anywhere in the world.
The competition is open from 1/2/23 and closes at midnight on 31/5/23 (UK time).
The poet’s name must not appear anywhere on the poem submissions.
Poems must be the entrant’s work and not previously published anywhere, either in print or online, including on personal blogs and social media pages.
All poems must be in English.
Poems can be on any subject or theme.
Only typed entries will be accepted.
All poems must be fifty lines or less.
The word limit does not include titles.
Entry is online only and must be sent as a word document attachment, with each poem on a separate page.
All poems within the entry must be sent at the same time.
Each poem must have a title.
The name of the attached file should be the title of the first poem in the attached document.
The subject of the email containing competition entries must be the order number you received upon checking out your entry.
Please attach your poem or poems in a single WORD or TEXT file, there should be no identifying features on the file other than the poem titles, and no other file types will be opened. (No PDFs).
You may enter the competition as often as you wish if the correct entry fee is paid each time.
Entry fees are non-refundable.
We cannot accept alterations to the poem once it has been submitted.
Poems will not be accepted by post.
Work will not be returned. Please be sure to keep a copy.
We are unable to give feedback.
Simultaneous submissions are NOT accepted.
Poems cannot be withdrawn from the judging process once entered.
If an entry is successful, then payment of the prize will be made by bank transfer only.
In exceptional circumstances, we reserve the right to vary the prizes shown.
All entries will be notified of the result by 1st July 2023, and winners will be announced publicly through this website and on social media soon after.
Although the copyright will remain with the poet, we reserve the right to publish any shortlisted poem on our website.
The judges' decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered.
